Why Do We Buddy Walk: Columbus Buddy Walk Video
The Challenge:
In preparation for the Columbus Buddy Walk, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio invited community members to create videos answering, "Why we Buddy Walk." This call for stories aimed to raise awareness and inspire participation in their largest annual fundraiser. As a new parent of a child with Down syndrome, I wanted to create a video that not only represented our personal journey but also resonated with other families and the broader community.
The Idea:
To produce a heartfelt and relatable video, I brought together family and friends who had joined our son’s Buddy Walk team. The video would share our reasons for walking, celebrate our son's journey, and inspire others to join the cause.
The Solution:
With the help of an assistant, I shot footage of our loved ones sharing their heartfelt messages and our shared commitment to raising awareness. Using my production skills, I edited the video to weave these personal stories into a cohesive and impactful narrative.
This project marked my first opportunity to use my professional skills to advocate for individuals with Down syndrome, a cause I’m deeply passionate about. It became the foundation for many future collaborations with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio.
