OSHA :  Simplifying Multilingual E-Learning at Red Roof Inn
This OSHA training course was the first to utilize the multilingual Adobe Captivate template and the RediTEXT web-based application I developed.
The Challenge:
Red Roof Inn needed to accommodate employees with diverse primary languages in their e-learning courses. The original solution required creating separate course versions for each language, which cluttered the LMS, made navigation cumbersome for learners, and complicated tracking and reporting.
The Idea:
To simplify and enhance accessibility, I envisioned courses where learners could switch the language of the text on demand based on their preferences.
The Solution:
While Adobe Captivate didn’t natively support on-demand language switching, it did allow text changes using variables and JavaScript integration. This led to the development of RediTEXT, a web-based application that streamlined multilingual course development.
By combining the new template with the RediTEXT process, we enabled a single course to support multiple languages dynamically. Although it required minor additional setup at the start, this approach significantly improved tracking, reporting, and updating while reducing LMS clutter.
For more details about RediTEXT and how it supports this process, refer to the RediTEXT example in the Application Development section of this portfolio.
Here’s a look at the template and final results:

The Captivate course is first developed in English.

English text is copied into RediTEXT. A spreadsheet is exported for the translation team. The completed translation spreadsheet is  then imported back into RediTEXT.

The text in Captivate is swapped out for variables.

When the course is launched these variables will be populated by the appropriate text for the language selected by the learner.
