Getting Started with SYNTRAC: Training for Cardinal Health's Integrated Inventory System
The Challenge:
Cardinal Health needed a comprehensive training program to onboard nuclear pharmacists to their SYNTRAC integrated inventory and patient management system. The curriculum needed to cover the system’s full workflow—starting the day, managing inventory and patients during the day, and closing out operations—while ensuring pharmacists could confidently navigate the software and processes.

The Idea:
To provide effective training, I designed a curriculum using a Tell > Show > Do > Review approach. This method combined clear instruction, visual demonstrations, hands-on practice, and reinforcement to maximize retention and engagement. The curriculum would include interactive simulations to replicate real-world tasks and workflows, offering learners a risk-free environment to practice using the system.

Getting Started with SYNTRAC is a four-course curriculum consisting of:
Overview Module: Introducing the system and its key features.
Starting the Day: Guiding users through initial setup and preparation.
During the Day: Covering inventory management and medication preparations.
Ending the Day: Ensuring proper close-out procedures.
Collaborating with subject matter experts, I designed, wrote, and developed the courses. Videos were shot and edited to enhance the learning experience. The curriculum was authored in Articulate Storyline, leveraging its interactive capabilities to create immersive simulations.
This structured, hands-on approach equips nuclear pharmacists with the skills needed to confidently and efficiently use the SYNTRAC system in their daily operations.
